Genesis 1-2

Study Length: 2 weeks

What do you wonder about God, yourself and the other people, creatures and places that fill our world? Do you long to know and live by whatever is true?

Genesis, the beginning of God’s written revelation, addresses our deepest needs. The Bible’s first book declares the whole story: the God who graciously creates splendor and bliss is also the God who lovingly redeems His creation from sin, giving us hope for our lives and the world.

This 2-week study reveals truth about each person’s identity, significance, purpose and destiny. More importantly, we encounter the God who is and His worth to be loved, worshipped, trusted and obeyed.

In chapter 1, God creates matter from nothing. He gives life and shapes beauty. He creates humankind in His image to glorify and enjoy Him forever. God declares His work very good and rests with the man and woman.

Chapter 2 zooms in on the vivid details of God’s handcrafting of man and woman, constructing humanity’s intimate, image-bearing and fruitful relationship with Him. We glimpse hints of how life in the new heaven and new earth will be in the future.

How deeply can you identify with Adam and Eve, who enjoyed unhindered fellowship with God in a beautiful paradise? Spend two weeks exploring God’s intended bliss, first created and now revealed in order to call all people to live under His love, will, authority and blessing.
