What Was Isaiah’s Message?

The Holy One is your only hope

WordGo · 2 min read

Isaiah was a messenger appointed by God, delivering a message that was timely for his generation—and remains timely for ours. That message is simple, yet profound: The Holy One is your only hope. In fact, the entire book of Isaiah, spanning 66 chapters, can be summed up in this singular truth. Throughout every verse, Isaiah relentlessly emphasizes that the Holy One is humanity’s sole hope.

This is a message that resonates just as much today as it did in Isaiah's time. God is humanity's only true hope—not political parties, not ideologies, not philosophies, not wealth, not influence, not prestige, not marital status, not family, not elections, not the ruler of the moment. In the end, God alone is the one true hope.

Throughout the book of Isaiah, God promises the coming of a Holy One who will sanctify His people. This is evident in chapter 6, where the Holy One makes Isaiah holy by atoning for his sin. In chapter 25, we see the Holy One as a refuge for the poor and a shelter from the storm. He promises to swallow up death and wipe away every tear.

In chapter 26, the Holy One is the source of peace, keeping those who trust in Him in perfect peace. In chapter 28, He is described as the “Sovereign Lord,” capable of accomplishing all things.

He lays down a precious cornerstone, offering a sure foundation, assuring that those who rely on Him will never be overwhelmed by panic. Ultimately, the Holy One promises to destroy death itself.

The Holy One also promises salvation. “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength.” He promises to be a rich store of salvation and invites us to place our trust in Him, even when the world doubts or denies God’s trustworthiness.

The Holy One brings comfort by atoning for sin, giving strength to the weary, and calling people to righteousness. He opens the eyes of the blind, sets captives free, and proclaims His saving power. He blots out our sin and promises to remember it no more. In the Lord alone is deliverance and strength. He is bringing righteousness near and will grant salvation to His people.

In a world full of fleeting hopes, the Holy One remains our unwavering foundation, offering eternal security and salvation to all who trust in Him.
