A Living Faith: 11th Jul

Study Length: 4 Weeks

How does genuine, saving faith respond to life’s many trials?

If a stranger observed the ups and downs of your daily life, what might they discover about your heart of faith? Would it be obvious that you love Jesus – without reservation?

In this 4-week study, James: A Living Faith, explore James’ words of warning, encouragement, and practical instruction for his dear brothers and sisters in Christ. In a bold and heartfelt letter, James eagerly writes to the first generation of believers. These believers faced trials like ours today: persecution, injustice, false teachings, fractured communities, harmful words, and struggles with temptation and sin.

But James has a message for believers in an unsteady world: The God who eternally saves His people steadies them in life’s daily trials. Whatever comes, believers must choose to live by faith.

James earnestly warns us: Believers repeatedly get to choose between God’s way or the way of the world. James encourages us to see that tests prove God’s commitment to grow His children’s faith. Ultimately, James teaches us: Authentic faith is a God-given faith that lives in loving response to salvation.

God-given faith transforms the believer’s  thoughts, priorities, words, and actions. Our relationship with God becomes increasingly evident as the Holy Spirit changes how we live. Even in the most challenging circumstances, believers can cling to God’s truth, joyfully submit to Christ, ask Him for wisdom, obey His direction, and depend on Him for life.

James says God’s Word reveals our heart’s true condition. As you study, will you follow James’ instruction and look into the mirror of God’s Word? God graciously gives us the faith to live wholeheartedly by His truth.
