What does Christmas mean to you?
What’s filling your days as the countdown begins to the appointed holiday? Each person prepares with a mixture of appreciation, apprehension, and anticipation. Whether it’s with public parties, trees, Santa, decoration, gifts and food, or secret, silent gatherings in candlelit homes; our world clamors to consume us with Christmas cheer, or consume the light of Christ Himself. Yet, the Bible draws our attention to Jesus—our real hope, faith, joy and peace.
Together let’s clear some space at Christmas to honor and rejoice in the birth of our Savior and King, Jesus Christ. This four-week study invites us to dwell in God’s Word and consider the reality of Christ’s incarnation. We’ll trace the Bible’s story that marks fulfillment of God’s promises made long ago. We’ll echo the “Amen!” of the star-struck night when humanity’s eternally promised hope was Born to Dwell among us.
In Born to Dwell, examine different aspects of the Bible’s Christmas story in both Old Testament passages and the gospels of Matthew, Luke and John. God’s trustworthy and authoritative message across Scripture will prepare us to receive and rejoice in His greatest gift – the Word made flesh to dwell among us, that all who believe may be re-born to dwell with God now and forever.
God the Father sent His Son to enter the world as a helpless baby – fully human, fully God. He lived the perfect life and died a painful death. Now resurrected He dwells glorified in heaven, and by Christ’s work of salvation, the Holy Spirit dwells within those who abide in Jesus. The Messiah came to save His people from their sins. He will come again to rule and reign.
Let this be the year to pause, slow down, worship Jesus with wonder, and cherish Him by faith.
